Violence against educators and social workers reported in Spain

Two separate incidents of violence against educational and social workers have been reported in Spain.

In Roquetas de Mar, Almería, an early childhood education teacher was physically assaulted and threatened with death by a student's mother on October 2, 2026. The assailant, who claimed the teacher had injured her three-year-old daughter, struck the teacher in the back after being denied an immediate private meeting. Following the physical altercation, the woman remained near the school perimeter, shouting death threats against the teacher and her family.

In Huelva, a social worker at a minor protection center was assaulted during a night shift between September 27 and 28. The worker, who was working alone, attempted to prevent a 17-year-old from leaving the facility. During the intervention, the minor allegedly pushed the worker, grabbed her by the neck, and punched her in the face. The victim is currently on medical leave due to physical and psychological injuries. The union CCOO Enseñanza Huelva has denounced the incident, citing the dangers of insufficient staffing and the lack of security for professionals working solo during night shifts.
