Violence and labor disputes reported in Morelos and Michoacán

In Xochitepec, Morelos, authorities are investigating the death of a man approximately 40 years old, found with gunshot wounds in the La Esperanza neighborhood near the Aeropuerto-Tepetzingo bypass. Local residents reported not hearing shots, leading to a hypothesis that the victim may have been killed elsewhere and abandoned at the scene.

In Morelia, Michoacán, a 55-year-old man was shot and wounded in his home in the Lomas de Guayangareo neighborhood. Armed individuals reportedly approached the residence and opened fire when the victim answered the door. The victim was transported to a hospital, and the State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation.

Separately, the Mayor of Xochitepec, Roberto Flores Zúñiga, addressed local police salary demands. He cautioned against the political exploitation of these protests ahead of the 2027 elections. The mayor announced a plan to implement a standardized minimum salary of 17,701 pesos for officers by January 2027, noting that the administration is seeking federal support to sustain these increases due to local budget constraints.
