Violence erupts in San Agustín following homicide of 19-year-old

Ezequiel Gerardo López, a 19-year-old resident of the San Agustín neighborhood, was killed on Saturday afternoon after sustaining at least three gunshot wounds. The incident occurred near the intersection of Río Negro and Los Negruchos streets. López was rushed to Hospital Iturraspe, where medical staff confirmed he had no vital signs.

The homicide triggered a wave of violence in the area. Police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding armed attacks on the residence of the suspected aggressor. Additionally, investigators are examining a fire at a property located at Larrechea and Pedroni to determine if it is linked to the killing.

Violence continued into the night when the home of the victim, located on Río Negro street, was shot at while his family was attending his wake. Local residents reported moments of terror, noting that children had to drop to the floor to avoid the gunfire. Preliminary reports suggest López may have been attempting to protect another young person during a confrontation in the street when he was shot.
