Violence in Amsterdam and The Hague leads to police intervention and court sentencing
In Amsterdam-Sloterdijk, a woman was seriously injured during a party on Rhôneweg on Saturday morning. Following a dispute between two women, a man allegedly struck one of them in the head with an object. The incident triggered significant unrest, forcing police to deploy multiple units and use batons to manage aggressive attendees. The suspect, described as a man approximately 30 years old with a dark complexion and a long, broad build, fled the scene and remains at large.
In a separate incident in The Hague, a man identified as Tarek El A. (38) was sentenced following a violent attack on a family at an allotment garden in the Moerwijk district. The defendant attacked a father with kicks and a cordless drill, and assaulted the mother and daughter, including stabbing the daughter with a knife. While the court rejected the defendant's claims of self-defense, it noted that bystanders intervened quickly, preventing more severe injuries. The victims reported lasting psychological and physical trauma from the assault.
