Violence in Argentina and strikes in Dominican Republic
In Argentina, police and municipal guards intervened in a violent confrontation near the Cruz Alta Secondary School in Banda del Río Salí on Monday, September 7. The altercation resulted in one woman being injured and transported to Hospital Padilla, where she is reported to be out of danger. Authorities arrested four individuals in connection with the incident and seized a knife that had been concealed on one of the participants. The Criminal Fiscal Unit I is leading the investigation.
In the Dominican Republic, the Frente Amplio de Lucha Popular (Falpo), alongside the Jesús Diplán and Rebelde movements, reported the results of a 24-hour strike in Salcedo. The organizations claimed the strike successfully paralyzed the municipality, noting that over 90% of local merchants supported the measure. Following the protest, organizers established contact with Senator Mercedes Ortiz and Deputy Lurdes de Jesús. An official meeting has been scheduled involving ministers, local authorities, and community representatives to discuss social demands.
