Violence in Colombia and power outages in Venezuela reported
In Rionegro, Colombia, a woman was seriously injured in a machete attack following a dispute over property boundaries and a failing septic system in the La Esperanza area. The incident occurred when a man entered private property to perform maintenance on a septic tank that is currently overwhelmed by more than 30 homes despite being designed for only eight. The victim sustained wounds to her head, back, and hands after asking the individual to leave the premises.
In Venezuela, residents of the kilometer 07 sector in the Caño El Tigre parish have endured nine days without electricity. More than 60 families report that the outage, believed to be caused by a transformer failure, has led to the loss of essential food supplies and health issues for children and the elderly due to extreme heat. Community representatives have called on the mayor of Zea to intervene with the electricity company, Corpoelec, as previous attempts to restore service have failed.
