Violence in Mato Grosso do Sul: Two fatal shootings reported

Two separate fatal shooting incidents occurred in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul on Friday night.

In Campo Grande, a 35-year-old man was killed by a group of three hooded gunmen in front of a barbershop in the Lagoa Park neighborhood. A 17-year-old bystander was also shot and remains in serious condition at Santa Casa de Campo Grande. Security footage captured the attackers using long guns and fleeing in a white Ford Ka. Investigators are looking into reports that the victim had been receiving threatening phone calls.

In Maracaju, a 20-year-old man was executed in the Parque Ecológico area. The victim had been released from custody just hours prior following a drug trafficking arrest the previous day. Witnesses reported that three men arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on the young man while he was with his family. Police are investigating whether the killing is linked to disputes between criminal factions.
