Violence incidents reported in Sobral and Duque de Caxias

In Sobral, Ceará, 33-year-old Francisco Heliomar Tiago Pires died after being shot while working at a construction site in the Residencial Nova Caiçara neighborhood. Preliminary reports indicate that individuals on a motorcycle arrived at the site and fired multiple shots at workers on scaffolding. The victim was transported to the Hospital Regional Norte but succumbed to his injuries. This incident marks the 53rd intentional homicide in Sobral in 2026.

In Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, 42-year-old Leonardo Ribeiro Silva was seriously injured after being shot in the neck while waiting at a bus stop. The shooting occurred during a confrontation between organized supporters of the Vasco and Flamengo football clubs. Authorities believe the attackers may have mistaken the group for rival fans. The incident is being investigated as attempted murder by the 59th DP.
