Dominican Republic police operations result in multiple fatalities
Multiple fatal police operations have been reported in the Dominican Republic. In the Peravia province, two young men, Wander Cuevas (alias ‘El Poli’) and an individual known as ‘Skari Mecánico’, died following a shootout with agents from the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DICRIM) in the community of Don Gregorio, Nizao.
Authorities described the incident as a suspected confrontation in a wooded area near the Nizao River. Cuevas was reportedly wanted for an arrest warrant related to a shooting in September of last year. These deaths bring the total number of individuals killed by police in Peravia to four within a 15-day period.
In a separate incident in San Juan de la Maguana, Ángel Luis González, known as ‘Piro Caco de Muñeca’, died after a confrontation with DICRIM agents in the Cristo Rey sector. Police officials stated that González, who had a criminal record and was wanted for armed robbery, allegedly opened fire on officers with a 30-round capacity pistol, prompting agents to return fire.
