Violence reported at schools in Honduras and Brazil
Two separate incidents of violence involving weapons at educational institutions have been reported in Honduras and Brazil.
In Tegucigalpa, Honduras, a mother entered the Nueva Jerusalén Educational Center in the Australia colony armed with a knife. She reportedly confronted teachers and staff, claiming her daughter was a victim of bullying. The situation escalated into a physical altercation involving educators and National Police officers. Following the intervention, the woman was detained and transported to a medical facility due to reported signs of a mental health condition.
In Cametá, Brazil, a student attacked a teacher, Betânia Almeida Prestes, with a hunting knife at the Dr. Gerson dos Santos Peres State School. The student reportedly stabbed the teacher in the back and later confessed to the act, stating she did so because she did not like the instructor. The teacher was treated at the Cametá Regional Hospital; medical examinations confirmed the wound did not affect any organs.
