Violence reported in Girón and Antigua Guatemala via viral videos

Two separate incidents of violence captured on video have drawn public attention in Colombia and Guatemala.

In Girón, Santander, a video circulated showing a man physically assaulting a young woman while she held her baby in her arms. The victim was heard crying out for him to stop during the altercation. Following the viral spread of the footage, the Girón Municipal Government, the Family Commissioner's Office, and the National Police activated protection protocols. The woman and her infant were transferred to the Family Commissioner's Office for case verification and protection.

In Antigua Guatemala, a recording captured a group of youths attacking others in the El Panorama sector on August 15. The footage shows several individuals exiting a vehicle and beating a young man until he was unconscious on the public road. Two people were reportedly seriously injured in the attack. Witnesses identified the vehicle used by the suspects by its license plate, and authorities have been called upon to investigate the incident.
