Violent assaults hit Italian nightlife spots in Portici and Verbania

In Portici, a young man was brutally attacked by a group of peers near the Granatello waterfront on the night of July 13, sustaining serious injuries including an eye trauma. Police, municipal officers and financial guard troops intervened and three adult suspects have been charged while investigations continue.

In Verbania, a 20‑year‑old from Omegna was arrested after a violent glass‑shard assault outside the Il Maggiore cultural centre during the Kaleido Summer event. The suspect was detained by an off‑duty officer, treated for injuries and released on bail, while the victim recovered with minor cuts.

Both incidents underscore rising concerns about youth‑driven violence in public gathering places across Italy and the swift police response aimed at preventing further escalation.
