Violent assaults reported in Pilibhit and Bengaluru

Two separate violent incidents have been reported in India. In Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, a middle-aged man was allegedly tied to an electric pole and assaulted after being suspected of stealing a mobile phone. A video of the assault circulated on social media, prompting police to intervene, rescue the victim, and transport him to a hospital. Authorities have detained a suspect and are investigating the circumstances.

In Bengaluru, a 26-year-old nurse was attacked by her estranged husband, Venkatesh, near a clinic in JP Nagar. The assailant reportedly chased the victim, attacked her with a machete, and threw floor cleaner at her in a public area. Bystanders attempted to intervene by throwing stones at the attacker. The suspect was apprehended by traffic police and has been arrested as the victim undergoes treatment at a private hospital.
