Violent attacks in Chiriquí, Panama claim lives of woman and cattle producer

In Tierras Altas, a municipality in Chiriquí province, a woman was assaulted and bystanders chose to record the incident on their phones rather than intervene. Licenciada Lucy Córdoba told TVN that "instead of helping, they make content," highlighting a troubling culture of silence and revictimisation.

In the neighboring district of Bugaba, cattle producer Pedro Araúz was murdered. The National Cattlemen Association (Anagan) of Chiriquí condemned the killing, describing Araúz as a diligent, civic‑minded family man and urging authorities to arrest the perpetrators, noting that more than 30 hours had passed without any arrests. The association called for greater personal security measures for farmers and demanded a thorough investigation.
