Violent crime incidents reported in Suriname and Belgium

In Suriname, three masked men armed with handguns forced entry into a home in De Goede Verwachting on Tuesday. During the robbery, the perpetrators threatened residents and stole gold jewelry, approximately 45 grams of raw gold, and two mobile phones. One resident was wounded by a gunshot to the left ankle and was transported for medical treatment. The Korps Politie Suriname has launched an investigation to identify the suspects.

In Belgium, residents of the Sint-Gillis district are facing ongoing violence linked to drug-related territorial disputes. On Monday evening, gunfire involving a heavy assault weapon occurred at the intersection of Montenegro and Gustave Defnet streets, near a pizzeria. While no injuries were reported during this specific incident, a previous shooting on Saturday at the same location left a man with a leg wound. Local residents have expressed concerns regarding intimidation and the presence of dealers in the area.
