Violent crimes reported in Brazzaville and Franceville

Two separate violent incidents have caused shock in Brazzaville and Franceville.

In the Mfilou district of Brazzaville, a young mother of approximately 20 years old was found dead on the morning of September 2 in the Moutabala neighborhood. Witnesses reported that the woman had been involved in a heated altercation with a man following a phone call earlier that day. Despite advice from relatives to remain home for safety, she reportedly left her residence unnoticed and was discovered lifeless on Mabombo Street around 5:52 a.m. Police have taken the body to the PK station for investigation.

In Franceville, the body of 33-year-old Léa Collete Bomo, a snack-bar manager and mother of four, was discovered on September 3 in the Sogafric neighborhood. The victim was found by her employers after she failed to appear for her scheduled closing. Preliminary findings suggest she was sexually assaulted and murdered, likely during the night between Wednesday and Thursday. Judicial authorities and the Haut-Ogooué provincial police have launched an investigation to identify the unknown assailants.
