Violent Home Attacks Result in Long Prison Sentences in Australia and UK

Two separate assaults in which victims were attacked in their own homes have led to lengthy prison terms. In Armidale, Australia, Frederick Thomas Moran, 29, and Thomas House, 23, pleaded guilty to a savage assault that left a 25‑year‑old man with deep leg lacerations exposing bone and a head wound. Both were sentenced after the June 2025 incident in which the attackers used knives and a bat‑like weapon.

In Sheffield, United Kingdom, Liam Rhodes, 28, and Sarah Hughes, 48, were convicted of a November 2023 robbery in which the victim suffered multiple head and facial injuries after being beaten with a metal rod and an improvised sock‑wrapped weapon. Rhodes received an 11‑year term and Hughes 10½ years.

Both cases highlight the courts' severe penalties for violent home invasions that cause serious bodily harm.
