Violent incidents and fatalities reported in Nairobi and Kisumu

Several violent incidents and fatalities have been reported across Kenya. In Nairobi’s Industrial Area, 20-year-old Victor Okello was shot dead following a gunfight with police. The confrontation occurred near Water Plaza after officers pursued a group suspected of stealing household items from a hotel. During the pursuit, a suspect allegedly fired a pistol at officers, who returned fire. Police recovered a Gen 5 pistol and ammunition at the scene, and one other suspect was arrested.

In Kisumu West Sub-County, a 26-year-old man, Shawn Omondi Otiendo, died after being allegedly stabbed in the stomach during a physical confrontation at Chadwicks Motel. Another man involved in the fight was hospitalized in critical condition.

Additionally, authorities reported the discovery of a 47-year-old man's body near a feeder road in Taita Taveta County, though no visible injuries were noted. In a separate incident in the same county, a 42-year-old man drowned in Lake Chala after failing to return from a fishing trip.
