Violent incidents result in multiple deaths and injuries in Dominican Republic and Mexico
In Santo Domingo Este, Dominican Republic, three people died following two separate violent incidents in the Villa Liberación sector. In one event, 76-year-old María Mejía was fatally shot by a neighbor, Jeury Cuello Martínez, after she requested that he lower the volume of his vehicle's music. Her 38-year-old son was also wounded and remains in delicate condition. The suspect surrendered to authorities early Monday morning.
A second incident in the same community involved a dispute over a wire, which reportedly left two people dead and others injured.
In Silao, Mexico, an elderly couple was attacked in their home in the Sopeña neighborhood. Witnesses reported hearing more than ten gunshots during the early morning hours. The woman died at the scene, while her husband was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. While authorities have not confirmed a motive, reports suggest the attackers may have been searching for the couple's son.
