Violent incidents surge in Sinaloa as shooting kills man and multiple attacks reported

A shooting outside a home in the Floresta neighborhood of Culiacán on the night of 25 May left 27‑year‑old León Felipe dead and 32‑year‑old José Francisco “N” wounded. The attack was carried out by gunmen who riddled a vehicle and the street with high‑calibre fire.

Within the same period, south‑central Sinaloa experienced a series of security incidents. Federal forces were confronted near Escuinapa, resulting in an explosion and a federal employee being injured. A homemade explosive device was later found on the Malecón Siglo XXI in the same area. In Rosario, authorities discovered two dead men inside containers at an abandoned structure near the Mexico‑15 highway.

Authorities have not confirmed any direct connection among the events, and investigations into the perpetrators and motives remain ongoing.
