Violent robberies reported in Gorakhpur and Jamshedpur
Two separate violent robberies have been reported in India, involving impersonation and threats against family members.
In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, four masked individuals entered a home and targeted a woman. The perpetrators reportedly held a knife to the neck of her nine-month-old infant to prevent her from raising an alarm while they looted valuables. The family is currently in shock, and local police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
In Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, criminals posing as census workers gained entry to an apartment in the Mango police station area. Once inside, the suspects held a resident hostage, physically assaulted her, and stole gold jewelry, including a chain and earrings. The victim sustained facial injuries, including a broken tooth, during the encounter. Police are investigating the incident using local surveillance footage.
