Vionica community begins construction of new home for family with nine children
Construction is underway on a new prefabricated home for the Živković family in Vionica, a community initiative aimed at providing a safe and dignified living environment for the parents and their nine children.
The family currently resides in a damp, dilapidated former teacher's apartment located in an old primary school owned by the Municipality of Čitluk. Because the old school building is slated for renovation for public use, a collaborative campaign was launched to secure a proper residence for the eleven-member household.
The project is being executed by the company Promo d. o. o. Donji Vakuf and involves a 157-square-meter house. The initiative is a joint effort between the Vionica Local Community, the “Volim Vionicu” Association, HKUD “sv. Marko Vionica”, the Municipality of Čitluk, and the Croatian National Assembly of BiH (HNS BiH). Financial support for the project is provided by the HNS BiH, along with the Herzegovina-Neretva, West Herzegovina, and Posavina cantons, as well as municipalities with a Croat majority.
On Wednesday, local officials and representatives visited the construction site for an inspection and a blessing ceremony led by Fra Jakov Jure Nikolić, the parish vicar in Međugorje.
