Viçosa, Brazil hosts workshop to position artisanal cachaça as premium spirit

The 96th Semana do Fazendeiro will be held on 22‑23 July 2026 at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) in Minas Gerais. The event, organized by the State Federation of Agriculture and Livestock (Sistema Faemg) together with the National Rural Apprenticeship Service (Senar), will run a technical immersion aimed at moving artisanal cachaça from its traditional role in caipirinhas to a premium cocktail ingredient.

Participants – small‑scale producers and rural entrepreneurs – will receive training on cocktail‑mixology, flavor pairing and direct‑to‑venue sales, with the goal of diversifying income, shortening the supply chain and competing with imported spirits. Organisers say the initiative seeks to boost margins for family‑run distilleries and strengthen the brand image of Brazilian cachaça in professional mixology circles.
