Banyumas Bupati Halts Events Following Drift Speed Fest Tribune Collapse

On 26 July 2026, a temporary VIP tribune collapsed at the GOR Satria in Purwokerto, Banyumas, during the third National Drift Championship (Kejurnas Drift Seri III). The incident is believed to stem from over‑capacity and spectators jumping while receiving T‑shirts, causing the structure to give way.

Police have examined 13 witnesses and gathered evidence, with the investigation involving the police, event organizers, vendors and the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI). The collapse left at least 75 people injured, some with broken bones, and they were treated at multiple hospitals in the region.

Banyumas regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono ordered a temporary suspension of similar events, established a command centre and appointed a single information officer to provide coordinated updates while the probe continues.
