Vipa Bariya selected for Mission ShaktiSAT satellite program

Vipa Bariya, a 16-year-old Class 11 student from the Mahisagar district of Gujarat, has been selected as one of 20 students nationwide for the ‘Mission ShaktiSAT’ initiative. She is the only female student from Gujarat chosen for the program, which aims to encourage girls to pursue science and space technology.

Organized by Space Kidz India, the program included a 10-day international workshop at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, where Bariya received practical training in satellite coding, design, and assembly. The workshop involved approximately 12,000 female students from 108 countries. Bariya completed 21 modules and 550 lessons during the first phase of the competition and received a special award and trophy.

Bariya, a student at Eklavya Model Residential School, is scheduled to participate in a space technology event organized by Viasat in New Delhi from October 26 to 28. She may also visit the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launch centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, following the finalization of the satellite launch schedule.
