Vipava highway works force closure of Podnanos–Hrašče road segment
Because of reconstruction of the fast road between Vipava and the Nanos split, the carriageway heading toward the Nanos fork has been closed to all traffic until mid‑November 2026. Vehicles are being redirected onto a parallel state road, which has prompted safety concerns at the Hrašče interchange where traffic volumes have risen sharply.
Local officials, led by Miran Žvanut, chair of the Vipava municipal commission overseeing the project, warned that drivers from Podnanos must now turn left across on‑coming lanes to reach Hrašče, creating a high‑risk overtaking situation. In response, the Directorate for Infrastructure (DRSI) will paint a continuous centre line at the junction, prohibiting overtaking, and police will monitor compliance. The authority noted that no accidents had been recorded at this exact spot in the past decade, although two incidents occurred after 15 July. Residents continue to request additional safety measures.
The temporary traffic arrangement aims to maintain flow while the upgrade proceeds, but local authorities stress the need for further improvements to prevent collisions on the congested diversion route.
