African clubs secure key wins in CAF Champions League preliminary rounds

The first preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup have commenced, featuring several key results from across the continent.

In the CAF Champions League, Sudanese clubs secured important victories. Al Hilal SC defeated Burundi’s Aigle Noir 2-0 away, while Al Merreikh SC earned a 1-0 win against Zambia’s Power Dynamos. In Morocco, Maghreb de Fès secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Burkina Faso’s Rahimo. Other notable results include Simba SC taking a 1-0 lead over Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers, and Mangasport defeating Namibia’s African Stars 3-1.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Uganda’s Kitara FC made history at Hoima City Stadium by defeating Somalia’s Mogadishu City Council 2-1. Meanwhile, Uganda’s Vipers SC played to a 1-1 draw against Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou. Return legs for these competitions are scheduled to take place in mid-September to determine which teams advance to the second preliminary round.
