Vipers SC Faces Garde Republicaine in CECAFA Kagame Cup Group Match

Uganda’s Vipers SC and Djibouti’s Garde Republicaine are set to meet on Friday, 24 July 2026 at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, as part of Group A of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup. The match also features Rwanda’s APR and Kenya’s Gor Mahia, with the group winner earning a semifinal place.

Garde Republicaine captain Liban Mohamed told the media this is his first time hearing of Vipers, adding the team will “respect” the opponent. The Djiboutian side, two‑time league champions (2022, 2023) and third‑placed last season, have only two weeks to prepare after learning of their participation. Vipers, eight‑time Ugandan champions coached by Denis Lavagne, are aiming for their first Kagame Cup title.

Both clubs have strong domestic records, and the contest is seen as a key test ahead of the tournament’s knockout stages.
