Vir hosts third annual Ribarska noć traditional fishing festival

The third annual Ribarska noć (Fisherman's Night) was held on the island of Vir, organized by Ante Bašić and local residents. The event, held at the Muja pier, focused on traditional Dalmatian culinary heritage and community solidarity.

Organizers served over 400 kilograms of seafood, including sardines, octopus stew, mussels on buzara, and squid, prepared according to traditional recipes. The event attracted a wide range of visitors from Croatia and several neighboring European countries.

In addition to the food, the program featured traditional fishing games such as tug-of-war and a humorous octopus hunt. The event is funded by visitor donations, with all surplus funds directed toward supporting local primary school students and majorettes on the island. Local businesses and the Municipality of Vir provided logistical and sponsorship support.
