Virada Feminina promotes female autonomy in Manaus

The Virada Feminina movement held a mobilization event in Morro da Liberdade, Manaus, gathering over 1,200 women to promote financial independence and social support. Led by Cileide Moussallem, the initiative combined immediate relief with long-term tools for income generation.

During the event, organizers distributed 500 food baskets and 100 fans to address urgent needs. To foster economic autonomy, the movement also provided five sewing machines and five Mary Kay business kits. Moussallem emphasized that while food baskets address immediate hunger, providing tools for work allows women to build their own independence.

The event, supported by more than 40 volunteers, included lectures and guidance sessions focused on female empowerment. However, Moussallem announced that this will be the movement's final major action before the upcoming elections. The decision to pause activities is intended to prevent the social work from being associated with political campaigns, as Moussallem is not running for office.
