Viral pet stories trend on Japanese social media

Various pet-related stories have gained significant attention on social media in Japan. A Papillon named Ginpee became a viral sensation on TikTok after a video showed the dog expressing intense joy and excitement upon reuniting with a favorite staff member at a home center.

A black cat named Takibi also captured online interest for its ability to camouflage against a dark, powered-off television screen, appearing as though only its eyes were visible.

Additionally, a Threads post featuring three dogs home alone went viral. While two dogs slept in typical spots, a third dog was discovered sleeping on its back atop a table, looking much like a stuffed animal, which amused viewers.
