Viral ultrasound shows unborn baby smile when father speaks

A video recorded during an ultrasound exam captured an unborn baby appearing to smile after the father spoken to the fetus. The father placed his hand on his wife's abdomen each evening, talked to the baby and urged it to smile; the scan later showed a facial movement that resembled a grin.

The clip spread quickly on social media, with users calling the moment a touching example of early parent‑child bonding. Medical experts noted that such facial motions can be normal reflexes in the womb and do not definitively prove emotional response, but they acknowledged that fetuses can hear external sounds, especially the mother's voice, as early as the second trimester.
