Virat Kohli holds the record for the most runs scored in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) season, accumulating 973 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2016. He is also the highest run-scorer in the history of the tournament with 8,779 runs, holding records for the most centuries (9) and most fifties (64) in the competition.

Other notable performances in a single IPL season include Shubman Gill, who scored 890 runs for Gujarat Titans in 2023, and Jos Buttler, who recorded 863 runs for Rajasthan Royals in 2022.
