Virat Kohli performs various celebrations during India vs New Zealand ODI
During the first ODI between India and New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland, Indian batter Virat Kohli drew significant attention with several on-field celebrations. While fielding, Kohli performed the “You Can’t See Me” gesture popularized by WWE superstar John Cena toward New Zealand batters Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, coinciding with Cena’s entrance theme playing over the stadium speakers.
Kohli also executed a one-handed diving catch to dismiss Nathan Smith, followed by a bow and arrow celebration. The gesture sparked social media discussion regarding potential references to the Ramayana, though no official connection was confirmed.
In terms of match play, India’s bowling attack led New Zealand to a total of 185 in 40.2 overs. Arshdeep Singh took four wickets, while Gurnoor Brar and Anshul Kamboj claimed three and two wickets respectively. India reached 54/1 in 10.5 overs with Kohli and Shubman Gill unbeaten before rain forced the match to a temporary halt.
