Virat Kohli Sets New Overseas ODI Records Against England
Virat Kohli broke two major overseas ODI records during the second match of India’s series against England. His innings of 65 runs gave him the most fifty‑plus scores by an overseas batter in England, equalling Viv Richards’ tally of 14 such scores. At the same time, Kohli surpassed Kumar Sangakkara to become the leading run‑scorer in ODI matches played outside a player’s home country, reaching 5,519 runs in 126 innings.
The milestones were achieved in England’s conditions, traditionally challenging for visiting batsmen, and underline Kohli’s consistency on foreign soil as he prepares for the upcoming 2027 ODI World Cup.
