Virender Sehwag criticizes father-son comparisons in cricket

Virender Sehwag has spoken out against the media and public for making unfair comparisons between young cricketers and their legendary fathers. His comments follow the recent debut of his 18-year-old son, Aaryavir Sehwag, with the India Under-19 team during an unofficial One-Day series against Australia U19.

During the series, Aaryavir recorded scores of 28, 47, and 34. While observers noted similarities in his aggressive batting style and specific shots to his father, Virender Sehwag emphasized that such comparisons are unjust and can upset young players who are just beginning their careers.

Sehwag also defended Arjun Tendulkar, noting that the player is often unfairly scrutinized against the legacy of Sachin Tendulkar despite being a fast-bowling all-rounder with his own distinct domestic achievements. He argued that young players should be allowed to establish their own identities rather than being measured against their parents' accomplishments.
