Virender Singh Basoya deported from UAE to India

Virender Singh Basoya, a high-profile drug syndicate kingpin, has been deported from the United Arab Emirates to India. Basoya, who was arrested in Dubai following an INTERPOL Red Corner Notice, arrived at IGI Airport in Delhi via Air India flight 4310.

Authorities identify Basoya as a key overseas operative who allegedly coordinated drug trafficking activities from abroad, specifically facilitating the export of Mephedrone consignments from India. He is a primary accused in a massive Rs 6,000 crore drug case in Pune and is linked to a separate Delhi Police investigation involving international cocaine trafficking.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the deportation as a milestone in the government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics. Basoya is noted as a close associate of Sandeep Dhunia, the main accused in a Rs 13,000 crore Delhi drug case; Dhunia reportedly fled from Dubai to Pakistan.

Following his arrival, Delhi's Patiala House Court granted the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) a three-day transit remand to facilitate his production before an NCB court in Pune, where chargesheets have already been filed in connection with the ongoing investigation.
