Virgen de El Cisne celebrations held in Puerto Bolívar and Loja
Devotees in Puerto Bolívar recently held a traditional nautical procession in honor of the Virgen de El Cisne. More than one hundred vessels accompanied the image through the Huaylá estuary. During the event, residents expressed prayers for peace, security, and economic improvement for the parish.
In Loja, preparations are underway for the major religious festivities scheduled for August 2026. The traditional 74-kilometer pilgrimage is set to begin on August 17, starting with the first leg from El Cisne to San Pedro de la Bendita. Local authorities are performing preventive maintenance, including cleaning sewers and oxidation lagoons, to manage the expected influx of thousands of pilgrims.
