Virgen de la Merced arrives at Tucumán Government House

The image of the Virgen de la Merced, known as the General of the Argentine Army, arrived at the Casa de Gobierno in Tucumán to mark the beginning of the patronal festivities. Governor Osvaldo Jaldo received the image at the provincial executive headquarters, where he placed a crown on the figure that will remain until the commemoration of the Battle of Tucumán on September 24.

Father Abel Álvarez, parish priest of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy, accompanied the image. The arrival coincides with the start of the novena, a nine-day period of celebration. This year’s theme is ‘With Mary of Mercy, let us embrace everyone.’ The religious activities include daily masses at 8:00 PM presided over by Archbishop Carlos Sánchez.
