Virgen de Las Nieves honored in festivals at Los Llanos de Aridane and Cinco Casas

In Los Llanos de Aridane on the Canary Islands, the image of the Virgen de Las Nieves was dressed in a historic 19th‑century silk mantle made by local artisans Pilar Hernández González and Ana Isabel Martín Sánchez. Mayor Javier Llamas said the garment carries “a great symbolic and emotional weight for both the image and the whole municipality.” Cultural councilor Marlene González added that the gesture “strengthens the bond of Los Llanos de Aridane with our island patron.”

Meanwhile, the town of Cinco Casas in Castilla‑La Mancha opened its patron saint festivities for the Virgen de Las Nieves with a traditional street parade and a speech by former mayor and longtime resident Josefa Montiel. The event was attended by current mayor Almudena Moya, Alcázar de San Juan mayor Rosa Melchor and other officials. Montiel recalled her personal history with the town and urged community participation in the planned activities, which include music, a fireworks display and various sporting and culinary contests.
