Virgen del Valle festivities in Cumaná to focus on earthquake relief

The Archdiocese of Cumaná has announced the schedule for the 2026 festivities of the Virgen del Valle. Under the theme “Mary as a model of solidarity,” this year’s celebrations aim to honor victims of recent earthquakes and promote community support for those who lost their homes.

Donations collected during masses will be distributed to local vulnerable families and approximately 150 families from La Guaira who are currently seeking refuge in Cumaná. Additionally, the parish network will act as a humanitarian aid collection center to send supplies directly to La Guaira.

The liturgical and cultural program includes the descent of the sacred image on August 21, followed by a novena from August 29 to September 6. The main celebrations will take place on September 7 with a vigil mass, and on September 8, featuring a solemn Eucharist, a sea procession coordinated with Inea, and a final procession.
