Virgil van Dijk nears 200th Liverpool captaincy milestone
Virgil van Dijk is approaching a significant milestone as Liverpool prepares to face LASK in the UEFA Champions League. If Van Dijk leads the team onto the pitch, he will record his 200th appearance as club captain.
He joins an elite group of only seven players to have captained Liverpool at least 200 times, including Steven Gerrard, Ron Yeats, Emlyn Hughes, Donald MacKinlay, Jordan Henderson, Alex Raisbeck, and Sami Hyypia.
Teammate Milos Kerkez has highlighted Van Dijk’s influence within the squad, noting the composure and authority the Dutch defender provides to the back line. Liverpool enters the fixture with a strong historical record against Austrian opponents, having won eight of their ten previous matches against sides from the country.
