Virgil van Dijk reportedly interested in free transfer to FC Barcelona

Virgil van Dijk has reportedly expressed interest in joining FC Barcelona as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Liverpool FC on June 30. The 35-year-old defender is considering options to leave the Premier League after a highly successful tenure at Anfield.

While the prospect of acquiring a world-class defender without a transfer fee is attractive to Barcelona amid financial constraints, the move faces internal scrutiny. Reports suggest that manager Hansi Flick may be hesitant about the signing due to Van Dijk's age and the potential impact on the development of younger talents within the club's academy.

Other major clubs, including Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Beşiktaş, are also monitoring the situation. Van Dijk's current market value is estimated at approximately 15 million euros, though he could arrive at Camp Nou at no cost.
