Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has called for the squad to make amends following what he described as an “unacceptable” previous season. After winning the Premier League title in the 2024-25 season, the club experienced a significant decline, finishing fifth in the league and failing to progress beyond the quarter-finals in any cup competition.

The disappointing campaign led to the departure of manager Arne Slot, who has been replaced by Andoni Iraola. The club has also seen significant roster changes, with Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, and Andrew Robertson departing Anfield, while new signings include Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet.

Van Dijk expressed optimism regarding the new season, stating that the team is “up for the challenge” and must demonstrate their commitment to the club and its supporters.
