Virgilio Castillo pledges to expand Universidad de Los Andes to Boconó

Virgilio Castillo, a candidate for rector of the Universidad de Los Andes (ULA), has committed to pursuing the establishment of a university extension in the Boconó municipality of Trujillo state, Venezuela.

During a visit to the Dr. Pedro Rincón Gutiérrez Ecology Center, Castillo met with professors, staff, retirees, alumni, and community leaders. Participants emphasized that Boconó possesses the academic, social, and geographic conditions necessary to support a permanent university presence to enhance local research, training, and community engagement.

Castillo stated that the university must grow alongside its communities to meet regional needs, pledging to incorporate the project into his vision for a more regionally connected institution.
