Havana International Book Fair opens in Cuba

The 34th Havana International Book Fair (FILH) has officially opened in Cuba, featuring themes dedicated to the centenary of Fidel Castro and honoring the Russian Federation as the guest of honor. The inauguration was attended by President Miguel Díaz-Canel and other high-ranking officials.

During the event, poet and essayist Virgilio López Lemus was awarded the 2025 National Literature Prize, recognizing his significant contributions to Cuban letters. The fair serves as a platform for cultural diplomacy, with notable participation from Venezuela and Cambodia. Venezuelan publishers highlighted the strong interest from Cuban readers in their national authors, while Cambodia presented culinary literature to celebrate the 65-year diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

The fair continues to function as a space for cultural resistance and national identity, showcasing diverse international works and fostering dialogue through literature and gastronomy.
