Virgin Galactic schedules first Delta spacecraft flight for February 2027

Virgin Galactic has scheduled the first commercial flight of its new Delta-class spacecraft for February 2027. The timeline shift from previous projections is attributed to technical challenges that the company must resolve before deployment.

CEO Michael Colglazier stated that the adjustment does not jeopardize the company's financial standing. The company is working toward scaling its fleet, with a second Delta-class vehicle expected to follow in the second quarter of 2027. The long-term goal is to increase flight frequency to up to ten launches per month.

To engage the public, the company has launched a global vote to name the first Delta spacecraft, with options including Horizon, Explore, Ascend, and Apeiron. To date, Virgin Galactic has sold more than 50 tickets for future flights at an average cost of $750,000 per person.
