Virgin Plus to end prepaid wireless services in January 2027

Virgin Plus, a flanker brand of Bell, has announced it will officially end its prepaid wireless services on January 15, 2027. To maintain active service, existing prepaid subscribers must migrate to a monthly postpaid plan before the deadline.

Failure to switch to a monthly plan by the cutoff date will result in the permanent loss of phone numbers, saved voicemails, calling capabilities, text messaging, and mobile data access. Customers can facilitate this transition by visiting a store, calling the company, or using the website.

Virgin Plus stopped offering new prepaid activations at the end of September 2024, directing new pay-as-you-go customers toward Bell’s low-cost prepaid brand, Lucky Mobile. This move follows similar trends in the Canadian wireless market, where Rogers and Fido shuttered their prepaid services in December 2024.
