Virgin Voyages concludes five-year partnership with Portsmouth

The Virgin Voyages vessel Valiant Lady has departed Portsmouth International Port, marking the conclusion of a five-year partnership where the city served as a base for the cruise line in the United Kingdom.

The departure was marked by a special nautical parade at Southsea Castle as the 278-meter ship set sail for Amsterdam, beginning an 11-night cruise toward Reykjavik. During a recent transition season, approximately 15,000 Virgin Voyages passengers utilized the English terminal.

The relationship began in 2021 with the Scarlet Lady, which operated limited capacity voyages due to COVID-19 restrictions. Since then, Portsmouth has hosted the brand's UK debuts for multiple ships, including the Brilliant Lady. Andrew Williamson, Director of Cruises and Ferries at Portsmouth International Port, described Virgin Voyages as a “true partner to Portsmouth as a city” and a key element in the port's cruise history.
