Virginia begins early voting for midterm elections
Early voting has commenced in Virginia for the November 3 midterm elections. Voters can cast ballots in person through Halloween. Key contests include the U.S. Senate race, where Democrat Mark Warner is running for a fourth term against Republican Bert Mizusawa, a retired U.S. Army major general.
All 11 congressional districts are on the ballot. The district boundaries remain as they were two years ago following a state Supreme Court decision that set aside a redistricting amendment passed by voters in April. Additionally, three constitutional amendments will appear on the statewide ballot.
In Henrico County, early turnout was reported by Friday noon, with some volunteers noting that lines were light outside of the initial opening hours. The current congressional delegation from Virginia consists of six Democrats and five Republicans.
